Library Books

Before I fall asleep at night, I enjoy reading. It rarely lasts but a chapter or so because zzzzzzz. The Greene County Library system (and perhaps your local, public library) has ebooks and magazines (and more) to download using two different apps: Libby and OverDrive. I just began reading The Girl with the Louding Voice by Abi Daré. Listen to this: “That day, I tell myself that even if I am not getting anything in this life, I will go to school. I will finish my primary and secondary and university schooling and become teacher because I don’t just want to be having any kind of voice … I want a louding voice.” One of my favorite reads has been Beginner’s Pluck by University of Missouri alumna Liz Forkin Bohannon. Bohannon is funny, yet challenging, as she yanks away any sort of possible excuse you might have for choosing comfort over moving an inch toward something. Really, one of my takeaways was how she encouraged the reader to make a move, a small, itty bitty move, toward a pint-size goal. She set out to change the world, but she paused and realized the first step was in making a friend.
